(RVI) means the visual inspection of objects, components or parts of components. Visual testing is one of the surface testing methods in <a href=\"https:\/\/vizaar.de\/en\/non-destructive-testing\/\"><strong>non-destructive testing (NDT)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A VT inspection can be carried out after final manufacture, as an inspection during production (e.g. after welding, machining, etc.) or as recurring inspection (e.g. visual inspection of pipelines in power plants). Quality features such as surface condition, cleanliness, dimensional accuracy and other characteristics are tested and also checked for deviations from underlying specifications such as standards.<\/p>\n<p>As a rule, a distinction is made between the general visual inspection (overview inspection) and the special visual inspection. In the overview inspection, the general condition and external cleanliness are checked. The <strong>direct visual inspection<\/strong> is performed either with the naked eye or with optical aids such as <a href=\"https:\/\/vizaar.de\/en\/borescopes\/\"><strong>borescopes<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/vizaar.de\/en\/fiberscopes\/\"><strong>fiberscopes<\/strong><\/a>, which transmit the image directly without signal conversion. For indirect visual inspection, aids such as <a href=\"https:\/\/vizaar.de\/en\/videoendoscopes\/\"><strong>video endoscopes<\/strong><\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/vizaar.de\/en\/tank-and-pipe-inspection-cameras\/\"> <strong>camera systems<\/strong><\/a> are used. Here, the image is digitally converted into a video sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Special requirements for these inspection systems are often determined by regulations or standards. Usually, a VT inspection according to standards is also based on an inspection instruction in which all applicable devices and aids as well as standards and regulations are
