Inspection of rotor blades via drones – the better alternative
These methods have something in common: they are complex, expensive and often dangerous for the people involved. Drones represent an efficient alternative. They do not only have a better view from above, but are even 3-4 times faster than conventional inspection work. Within no time they reach their destination and create detailed high quality close-ups. Material damage to the rotor blades caused by lightning strikes or other damage is quickly detected. This ensures short downtimes and relieves the plant operator.
Safety at the highest level
To ensure that nothing goes wrong during the inspection, we only rely on experienced drone pilots. For more complex inspection work, one person controls the drone while a second pilot takes care of camera control. Our outdoor drones are supported by a GPS system, which provides important data on altitude and position. Nevertheless, most of the inspection flight is carried out entirely by hand.
Reasons to carry out your inspection with drones
There are many arguments for the use of flying drones in the inspection of wind turbines and the performance of rotor blade inspections.
The most important reasons for the use of drones are:
- 3-4 times faster than conventional inspection methods
- short test times, short downtimes
- low effort for inspection work
- flexible and cost-effective use
- no safety risks for inspection personnel
- Real-time image transmission for immediate analysis
